A high-energy laser is used to instantly remove foreign objects entangled in high-voltage power lines without damaging the transmission line. If a foreign object is found on the line that affects safe operation, the operator aims the laser at the target and the foreign object, whether plastic, wood or metal, is removed by short-term burning and melting.
